Personal profile

Nabeelah Ahmed Omarjee is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at ÔÂÎèÖ±²¥ (ÔÂÎèÖ±²¥). She obtained her PhD in Cognitive Psychology from ÔÂÎèÖ±²¥ and joined the University as a member of staff in November 2021. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Empowering Education (PGCEE) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and an SDG Teaching Fellow.

Nabeelah is Link Tutor for the Psychology and Cyberpsychology programmes delivered in partnership with Asia Pacific University (APU). In this role, she provides academic oversight and works closely with colleagues at the partner institution to support programme delivery, academic quality and the student experience.

Her teaching spans a range of areas within psychology, including research methods, mind, brain and behaviour, and mental health. She also developed the The Psychology of Social Problems, a new module that explores how psychological theory and research can be applied to contemporary social issues.

A key focus of Nabeelah's teaching is connecting psychological research with real-world challenges. As an SDG Teaching Fellow, she is particularly interested in embedding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within psychology education and encouraging students to consider how psychological knowledge can contribute to understanding and addressing wider societal issues.

Nabeelah's academic background is in cognitive psychology, with particular interests in attention and memory. Her doctoral research examined divided attention and the effects of attentional demands on performance, including the Attentional Boost Effect and cross-modal interactions during divided attention.

Alongside her teaching and partnership responsibilities, Nabeelah supervises undergraduate research projects and serves as a personal tutor, supporting students throughout their studies.
